Teak is a dense tropical hardwood and is one of the only timbers that are rich in natural oils and resins. This makes teak uniquely resistant to water and extreme weather conditions, pest-repellent and safe from decay, making it the perfect for outdoors.

When exposed to the sun, with time, your teak furniture will mature into a silver-grey patina. So, whether it be its honey hue or its elegant grey, teak will always be a beautiful addition to your outdoor space.

Once you buy a teak piece, you virtually won’t have to worry about your furniture again! Teak can be left outside untreated and uncovered, only needing an occasional wipe-down with soapy water.

To clean your teak furniture, occasionally hose or wipe it down with fresh water. Do not spray the furniture with a high-pressure hose as the pressure can erode the surface of the teak. For stubborn stains, use a mild solution soap or detergent with water and a soft brush. Once the furniture is cleaned, rinse it thoroughly to get rid of all the cleaning solution and dirt residue. This method works for both your weathered and oiled furniture.

If you prefer to maintain teak’s golden colour, we recommend you use Clear Sadolin Hardwood Oil. It is important you choose ‘Clear’ as your colour choice of Sadolin Oil as it doesn’t change the natural shade of the teak and leaves a beautiful satin finish. This will provide protection against the harsh UV. You will have to reapply the oil every 2-3 months if the furniture is exposed to weather and water, as the rain will wash it out, and if not reapplied, will turn begin to turn grey.
